Sail the Amazon River, sleep in the jungle, spot pink river dolphins and meet Indigenous communities on a 4-day, 3-night tour
Get ready to experience the magic of the Colombian Amazon on our 4-day, 3-night jungle tour from Leticia, an authentic adventure that combines navigating the Amazon River, jungle hikes, nights surrounded by nature and genuine encounters with Indigenous communities. The experience begins at the Leticia boardwalk (Malecón de Leticia), on the banks of the mightiest river on the planet, where our tour guide welcomes you before boarding a speedboat bound for the community of Chinería.
There we switch to a slow boat to venture into a narrow channel surrounded by lush vegetation, where the jungle opens up around you and you can observe its abundant plant and animal life up close. After a walk of about 45 minutes we reach Lake San Roque, one of the most special settings of the journey: here we have lunch, paddle out by canoe, try our luck at fishing and look for the large caimans that live in its waters. As night falls, a night walk reveals another side of the jungle, full of sounds and creatures that only come out in the dark.
On day two we head deep into the Amazon rainforest on foot to spot birds and wildlife, until we stand before the towering giant ceiba, one of the most iconic trees of the Amazon. That night we sleep at a jungle camp and set out on a caiman-spotting excursion, one of the most thrilling experiences of the trip: searching for caimans in their natural habitat alongside our guide.
On day three we return to Chinería to share time with the Indigenous community, learn about their way of life and take part in a handicraft workshop. In the afternoon comes one of the most anticipated moments: spotting pink river dolphins, the symbol of the Amazon. We then sail to Puerto Alegría, where we spend our last night at the Irapai cabins. On the final morning, depending on your flight time, we visit Monkey Island to watch these primates in their natural surroundings before returning to the Leticia boardwalk.
The package includes shared accommodation, 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 3 dinners, shared activities, a tour guide, land or river transportation whenever the route requires it, and insurance. If you prefer, you can also book the option with transfers to and from Leticia airport.
Did you know…? The pink river dolphin is the largest river dolphin in the world and, unlike ocean dolphins, the vertebrae in its neck are not fused: that is why it can turn its head and move nimbly between the trunks and roots of the flooded forest. Leticia also sits at the triple border between Colombia, Peru and Brazil, so on a single trip you sail waters shared by three countries.
This is a journey to feel the Amazon from within: at the pace of the river, listening to the jungle and learning from those who call it home. Let yourself be amazed by one of the most extraordinary destinations on Earth!
