The Chicaque Natural Park day hike tour is a wonderful way to explore the lush, green landscapes of Colombia. We start by picking you up from Bogotá and a scenic drive to the park which takes about an hour. Upon arrival, you’ll get the ticket entrance and a general explanation about the 10 miles of hiking trails, ranging from easy to more challenging treks through the mountains so you are ready to hike and explore!
Chicaque Park is an unforgettable experience with stunning views of the Andean mountains and the park’s dense cloud forest which is home to over 300 species of birds, including the Andean condor, the spectacled bear, and the puma, among some other variety of plant and animal life like hummingbirds, toucans, and orchids.
As an important area for conservation, their efforts are focused on protecting the park’s unique flora and fauna. It was recognized as a Private Protected Area by the Colombian government in 2005, highlighting its importance as a natural and cultural heritage site.
In addition to hiking and nature-watching, the park offers other activities such as horseback riding, bird-watching tours, and camping.

Recommendations
- A good mental and physical preparation for hiking (it is an easy-medium hike level, but we are located in a high altitude)
- Water or your preferred form of hydration. This is a hiking day experience so you will feel thirsty.
- Comfortable shoes and sunblock. You can expect to walk about 8 to 14 km.
- Mosquito repellent could be useful for the rainy season (March to June).
- Comfortable clothes. No pressure to look amazing, feel free to wear what makes you feel better.
- Keep your friends close, and your belongings even closer.You’ll visit some crowded areas, so don’t give papaya!
