Sleep in a traditional maloca, listen to the elders, sail the Amazon River to Puerto Nariño and spot dolphins and sloths in 3 days and 2 nights
Discover the essence of the Colombian Amazon on our 3-day, 2-night package from Leticia, a journey that brings together the ancestral wisdom of the rainforest, a boat trip on the Amazon River and the magic of Puerto Nariño. Your adventure begins in Leticia, from where we travel to the Maloca Guairuru, a traditional Amazonian longhouse surrounded by jungle. There we explore the rainforest on foot and sit down to talk with the elder (“el abuelo”), keeper of ancestral knowledge, who shares how Amazonian peoples see the forest and teaches us about the medicinal plants of the chagra, the traditional Amazonian garden. After another jungle walk, we spend the night in hammocks, lulled by the sounds of nature.
On day two, after breakfast, we head to the Leticia boardwalk (Malecón de Leticia) to sail the mightiest river on the planet to Monkey Island, where you can watch these primates up close in their natural surroundings. We continue to the community of Macedonia, on the banks of the Amazon, and then to Puerto Nariño, known as Colombia’s “natural nativity scene”, a car-free town where everything is explored on foot. There we have lunch and spend the night at Hotel Ayahuasca.
On day three we visit the community of San Antonio to head into the jungle in search of sloths, and share lunch with the community. In the afternoon we sail the Amazon looking for dolphins, stop at Puerto Alegría and return to Leticia, where this unforgettable experience comes to an end.
The package includes shared accommodation for 2 nights (one in hammocks at the maloca and one at a hotel in Puerto Nariño), 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches, shared activities, a tour guide, land or river transportation whenever the route requires it, and insurance. You can also book the option with transfers to and from Leticia airport.
Did you know…? Sloths move so slowly that algae grow in their fur, giving them a greenish tint that helps them blend into the trees. And a maloca is much more than a home: for many Amazonian peoples it is a sacred space where the community gathers and the elders pass on their knowledge.
A short but deep journey to feel the Amazon from its roots: its people, its medicine, its river and its wildlife. The rainforest is waiting for you!
