Sail the Amazon and Yavarí rivers, visit Puerto Nariño and Amazonian communities, and discover the wildlife of the triple border in 5 days and 4 nights
Discover the Amazon of the triple border on our 5-day, 4-night package from Leticia, a journey that takes you through Colombia, Peru and Brazil as you sail the Amazon and Yavarí rivers, hike the rainforest and share time with communities that live to the rhythm of the water. Your adventure begins in Leticia: after a warm welcome and lunch, we board at the Leticia boardwalk (Malecón de Leticia) to sail the mightiest river on the planet to Monkey Island, where you can watch these primates up close in their natural surroundings. We then continue to Puerto Nariño, where we spend the first night at Hotel Ayahuasca.
On day two we visit the community of San Antonio and head into the jungle on a guided hike, looking for sloths and standing before the towering giant ceiba, one of the most iconic trees of the Amazon. After lunch in the community, we sail the Amazon to Puerto Alegría to meet its people and enjoy a display of dance, culture and handicrafts from the Peruvian Amazon. As night falls, a night walk reveals the sounds and creatures of the jungle in the dark, before we rest at Hotel Irapay.
On day three we cross to Islandia, in Peru, and sail the Yavarí River, which forms the border between Peru and Brazil, to Sacambú. Here the adventure happens on the water: piranha fishing, canoeing, dolphin watching and a refreshing swim at the Pacú beaches. That night we sleep in Sacambú, surrounded by rainforest.
Day four is a celebration of Amazonian wildlife: we visit a village where we watch four species of monkeys (spider, capuchin, squirrel and howler monkeys), spot birds such as toucans and macaws, and experience the thrill of feeding the arapaima (pirarucú), the largest freshwater fish in the world. In the afternoon, around 4:30–5:00 p.m., we return to Leticia to rest at the hotel.
On the final day, depending on your flight time, we explore Leticia on a city tour, visit the ethnographic museum to learn about the cultures of the Amazonian peoples, and cross to the Brazilian side of the border for some shopping before wrapping up the experience.
The package includes shared accommodation for 4 nights, 4 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 3 dinners, shared activities, a tour guide, land or river transportation whenever the route requires it, and insurance. You can also book the option with transfers to and from Leticia airport.
Did you know…? The arapaima can grow to more than 2 meters long and, although it lives underwater, it must rise to the surface every few minutes to breathe air. And Puerto Nariño, known as Colombia’s “natural nativity scene”, is a car-free town: everything is explored on foot.
A journey to feel the Amazon in all its diversity: three countries, two rivers, amazing wildlife and living cultures. Your triple border adventure is waiting for you!
